Provisional and legacy index returns Investors using Russell Indexes may use provisional or legacy returns to choose an alternative reconstitution transition date while still obtaining an official benchmark return. Provisional returns apply to investors transitioning before reconstitution is complete. Legacy returns are for those transitioning post-reconstitution. Returns will be calculated from June 1 through July 31. Using provisional or legacy returns Daily provisional and legacy returns and values are available below. In addition, with the Russell Index Calculator, you can calculate any return within June and July based on your specified transition date. The calculator combines the official, provisional, or legacy returns required to produce an official benchmark return.
